Behind every great person or team is an even greater machine, from Knight Rider and KITT to Doctor Who and the Tardis, and now Team Defiant and Captain Crimson!
With the summer approaching and our range of activity locations becoming further spread, the next stage in our growth at Defiant Sport was obvious; a way in which we could bring sports to people, rather than them having to seek it out. What better way to achieve this than with our lovely red van?
The newest member of our team means we are now able to bring our wonderful equipment, that has been donated or bought through session earnings and grants, with us wherever we go. Making activities and weekly clubs far easier to run, with the ability to carry all the rackets, balls, nets, etc. needed for our LD tennis for example. Not only does it grant us this ease of transport, but also the capability to have many other sports on hand, if the opportunity for them arises; just the twist of a key and our Saturday active youth session can turn from football to badminton, as opposed to a whole journey home!
Captain Crimson has already proved an asset to the running of Defiant Sport, allowing just one vehicle needed for events such as the Little Gate Big Festival and Eastbourne Triathlon, rather than two or three to fit the whole team and our gear. Additionally, our weekly ‘drop in’ and Boccia sessions have been a breeze with CC on the team, bringing along the many toys, sports and activities we have in just one trip.
Though our lovely red van has made things a whole host easier for us at Defiant Sport, the big dream is to have our very own fully inclusive venue, aiding us to run all the activities and sessions we please, for anyone that wants to get involved… one day!
But for now, we shall keep on dreaming, and being thankful that Captain Crimson brings us one step closer to having a home for inclusive sport.
Until next time…
Keep on roaring, and stay defiant!
