The Inclusion Hub is where the Defiant Sports magic happens! It’s open as a community drop in venue 10am – 4pm Monday to Friday, and 10am – 2pm Saturday. Here you’ll find #TeamDefiant, many of our sessions, a bespoke 500 square foot sensory room, a Changing Places toilet, and more! Take a virtual tour of the Inclusion Hub here.
Multi-Sports Court
Our sports court can be used for tennis, football, badminton, boccia, dodgeball, basketball, cricket, hockey, and more! It’s used in our group sessions, such as Home Ed Sport + Play, and for our private lessons. If you come down to one of our sessions, you might also use our state-of-the-art MultiBall system, where you can practice your football skills or just enjoy some space invaders.
Sensory Room
We built the sensory room to provide a chill out area for our players. There’s plenty of lights, colour cubes, tactile toys, a huge interactive touch table designed for people with learning disabilities and dementia, and loads more. Come along and give a donation to use the room.
Community Area
The community area has lots of low-impact sports, such as table tennis, a pool table, table football, and air hockey to name a few. There’s also toddler toys, Lego, and a charity shop area with DVDs, CDs and books. If you’re struggling, our Give and Take table is free to use, and has various food, hygiene and clothing items for you to take, no questions asked.
Changing Places Toilet
Our Changing Places toilet is the 4th in Eastbourne, and the 1st in the Sovereign Harbour! It’s free to use by players and members of the public, making Eastbourne more accessible to all. It has a changing bench, privacy screen, changing hoist, and all other necessary toilet facilities.
The Wingrove Lounge
An area to relax, watch some TV and play video games. There’s an Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One all chock full of games to enjoy. Perhaps you would prefer to sit back on our sofas and watch something on the tele or even admire our awards. This area is named after Alan Wingrove, a great supporter and donator who sadly passed away. The lounge will stay with us wherever we go and will show any and all of our clients, supporters and friends who have passed away.
Gym Area
If you want to get some specific exercise in, the gym area has a few various pieces of equipment available to use by players, including a treadmill and an Invictus Active Trainer, essentially a treadmill for wheelchair users! As part of our private lessons you may find yourself using this area as well.
