The Benefits of Walking in Nature

Spring has finally sprung, and we couldn’t be more excited to see sunshine in our forecast instead of rain! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the flowers are starting to bloom!

It is time to go outside, and we urge you to spend as much time outside as possible! Spending time outside not only creates some activity in an otherwise sedentary day (especially during lockdown), but fresh air and sunshine are known to improve mood, reduce stress and reduce anxiety and depression. As little as 30 minutes a day, every other day will drastically change your mood and emotions!

We are so blessed to have great access to a variety of outdoor spaces in Eastbourne. Take a walk through the South Downs, around Sovereign Harbour, or just have a cup of tea or coffee and spend time at the beach! Throw some rocks in the sea or just sit on the pier and enjoy the sound of the waves crashing and the seagulls squawking. Gildredge Park is a personal favourite of Pascal’s, our blog writer, excellent for picnics or just hanging out on the grass surrounded by trees.

The warm weather also means that we will be resuming our Pokémon Walks around Sovereign Harbour. These restarted again this week, free of charge! We will be meeting every Wednesday from 12pm-1pm at the Inclusion Hub. Bring along your Pokémon Go and some great walking shoes, it’s going to be a be a blast!

As always, stay defiant!
