Invictus Active Trainer – A Treadmill for Wheelchair Users

For people with physical disabilities, it can be difficult to find ways to exercise or suitable equipment they can use. Invictus Active is a company that made an inclusive piece of exercise equipment called the Invictus Active Trainer for wheelchair users. The device is made up of a ramp and rollers, you reverse onto the rollers using the ramp and once the wheelchair is in properly you can start pushing the wheels to exercise in place.

This device helps you lose calories while also conditioning your shoulders. Another advantage of using this device is that it helps you practice your pushing technique. Equipment like this is particularly useful in giving people in wheelchairs opportunities to get active and improve their health, especially since they are one of the groups who struggle most to find a way to exercise and need it more than others.

If you’re interested in this equipment, we’re happy to say that we have one available for use in the Defiant Sports Inclusion Hub so come pop in and you can give it a try. It can be found in our gym area next to a sports treadmill, allowing wheelchair users and their carers or friends to train next to each other, giving each other encouragement to get active!

Invictus Active also run weekly workout sessions that use the trainer every Monday at 6pm through Zoom. If you wish to get involved check it out here and see if it’s something you want to give a try.

As always, stay Defiant!
