We are very pleased to announce that on the 7th February, we won the Disability Award at the LTA Tennis Sussex Awards. We are so happy to be raising more awareness for inclusive sports and opening doors for all players to succeed, regardless of any barriers to inclusion. It is great to see how far inclusive sport has come in the past few years, meaning people like our founding member Callum can finally begin to enjoy sports they love without facing exclusion.
Other notable award winners were The University of Sussex Tennis Squad for the Education Award, Noah Burton for Young Person of the Year Award, Jemma Turner for Volunteer of the Year Award, and the Girls 18U County Cup Team for the Team of the Year. Congratulations to all! The winner of each category gets the chance to go to the national LTA Awards, where winners will be chosen by a national board.
We are so excited to have received this recognition and award, but it would not have been possible without all of our amazing players. Thank you so much to all of our players and families, and also our wonderful coaches for working hard each week to grow the love of sport while creating a space where everyone is welcome and successful. Keep working hard at home, tuning into our online sessions, and most of all staying safe. We can’t wait to welcome you all back to the Inclusion Hub once it is safe to do so.
As always, stay Defiant!
