Mental health is something that has a wide reach on individuals, either directly or within families and friend groups. Even though the conversation surrounding mental health is gaining attention, we at Defiant believe there is still so much more to be done. Saying this, we would like to announce our new membership with the Mental Health Charter! This is a not-for-profit organization that works to prioritize mental health in the workplace. We are proud to say we have received a Bronze Level Award; we are hoping to do our part to break the stigma surrounding mental health.
#TeamDefiant have implemented many practices within our Inclusion Hub to ensure everyone feels safe and welcome. Staff and players are continuously monitored for signs of mental fatigue and possible poor health, and we reach out to those who display these signs. We want everyone within our Hub to feel welcome and part of our Defiant community.
The past year has been tough on everyone’s mental health in various ways, due to many factors such as loneliness due to isolation, or the closing of businesses and hangout spots, lack of physical exercise and many other reasons. To provide some relief, we have a regularly scheduled Zoom Social every Friday from 2:00-2:30pm. Join us for 30 minutes every week to chat and laugh and share stories from your week! It’s a great way to socialize with coaches and players and reduce the stress from isolation. We would love to see you there!
If anyone is looking for more details regarding the Mental Health Charter, you can find them on Facebook at or you can browse their website. For details on our Friday Zoom, head to our Facebook for links and more information.
If you are experiencing worsening mental health symptoms, loneliness, or simply feeling the impact of isolation, you can always reach out to us on info@defiantsports.org.uk. We can provide you with helpful links, or just a quick hello, whatever helps.
As always, stay Defiant!
