Eastbourne Pride 2021 will be taking place on Saturday 7th August 2021. Unfortunately, there will be no parade this year, as a coronavirus precaution, but the event is still full of a range of activities to enjoy and celebrate this weekend.
Party in the Park: “The event is free, family friendly and inclusive.” This takes place in Princes Park, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Wristbands for this are available at the Bourne out LGBT office at 1 The Labyrinth, 7 Mark Lane, Eastbourne, BN21 4RJ, and at Who Let The Dog’s Out? at 4 Mark Lane, Eastbourne, BN21 4RJ.
The remaining opening times for wristband collection from the Bourne Out LGBT office: Fri 6th August: 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm- 7:30 pm. There may also be wristbands available to collect from the same location on Saturday 7thAugust, from 11:00 am to 3 pm, after the event has started.
Features of the Party in the Park include “dancers, food stalls, beer, wine & prosecco tent, trade stalls and live music.” The performers scheduled for this include the following:

Pride After Party at The Temple: “Keep the Pride spirit alive and continue the party at The Temple, Mark Lane, Eastbourne. Join us for a 2021 take on an 80’s night. “80’s themed Fancy dress encouraged but not compulsory!” This takes place from 8:00 pm to 3:00 am, and tickets are available at the above link for £5.98 each, with sales ending on Friday 6th August.
Bourne Out emphasise the importance of using the word “pride” for these celebrations, as it opposes the “shame and social stigma” many people, activist groups, and movements face worldwide for being openly LGBTQ+. On a local level, events such as Eastbourne Pride allow LGBTQ+ individuals and allies to celebrate their identity and promote inclusivity in our town. With a number of people using lockdown as an opportunity to explore their gender identity and sexuality, it is important now more than ever to come together once again as a community and have pride in our LGBTQ+ identities – both new and old. Everyone is welcome at Eastbourne Pride 2021, as long as they are there to uplift the LGBTQ+ community rather than spread hatred, so be sure to get your free tickets and enjoy yourselves this weekend.
