This week we would like to showcase an amazing charity that has been started in London. They are called Steel Warriors, and this is a lovely initiative where they take knives from the street, harvest the steel and melt it down to be turned into outdoor gyms.
The aim is to provide safe spaces to the community where they can promote fitness and working out, and to reduce knife crime by taking away the weapons. Lots of the individuals targeted for help are ones affected by crime and social exclusion. This is such a unique way to create safer communities, but also more connected communities! Because of this initiative, kids can show up to the gym every day and workout instead of getting into crime or something that is detrimental to them.

Unfortunately, knife crime in Wales and England are reaching the highest rates in 9 years, which means about 1 tonne of knives are confiscated from the streets of London every month. Through the Steel Warriors, they are teaching children to arm themselves with a strong mind and fit body, rather than with weapons.
There are 3 locations already built within London. They are located at Langdon Park, Ruskin Park, and Finsbury Park. If you wish to go visit them, here is a link with all of their locations, as well as the maps provided to access them. Every single one of their locations are open air accessible and you are free to use them from dawn to dusk.
They also have a YouTube channel which you can access and learn how to use their gyms and what exercises can be done on them. This is a great way to get everyone active, and to reduce knife crime in the capital. Be sure to check them out!
As always, stay defiant!
