Defiant Sports has been running now for 3 years, and after working closely with Ray Blakebrough over the past year, we knew we had to get him on the team!
Ray is an active member of the Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour, which is how he entered our circle. Having been one of the Rotary Club’s 2 chosen charities over the past year (alongside Eastbourne Blind Society), we have worked closely with its members for fundraising projects and so on – one of these members being the lovely Ray! Ever since meeting, Ray has been a huge supporter of all we do here at Defiant, constantly championing all our hard work, helping in any way he can, giving great positive feedback, and becoming buddies with our star player Callum Lock. Even recently with the launch of our YouTube sessions on Mellow Mondays and Welcoming Wednesdays, Ray has been a keen and vocal participant in every session. Whether that be telling us his favourite musicians, or what score he got for seated volleyball, it’s been great to have him there supporting us.
After all his endless support and kind words, along with a genuine passion for the people we work with and what we do, we knew we needed Ray on #TeamDefiant. Therefore, following our AGM on the 14th April 2020, with a unanimous vote from all members of the board of directors, we are pleased to announce that Ray Blakebrough will now be joining Defiant Sports as our 6th Director!
We look forward to having Ray on the team, and can’t wait to see the new pathways this exciting development will take Defiant Sports on.
