If you’ve ever taken part in sport or dance you would know how much of a positive effect it can have on you. Taking part in sport can improve your mental health and physical health in many ways, it can; improve sleeping patterns, strengthen your heart, reduce stress and increase confidence etc. When you dance, you are releasing endorphins and other positive hormones into your system. This can help to reduce stress and anxiety levels.
Approximately 40.7 percent of male adults and roughly 31.7 percent of female adults play sport in the UK and as of 2022 there are approximately 10,400 dancers and choreographers working in the UK alone. But just imagine how much these numbers could increase if dance and sport became more accessible.
In the UK there are nowhere near as many accessible sports and dance clubs as there are regular sports and dance clubs. However, there are a few to mention; Kate Stanforth dance and defiant sports are both organisations that are proving that dance and sport can be accessible for all.
If dance and sport can have such a positive effect on someone without disabilities those effects multiply hugely for someone with disabilities. This is why regular sports and dance clubs should consider investing in the equipment needed to make their clubs accessible. If kate stanforth dance and defiant sports can do it then so can so many other companies in the UK.
