Activity Alliance’s Groundbreaking Campaign, ‘Who Says’, Enters Phase Two

It’s a common thing for people to think that people with disabilities are unable to do certain things, especially when it comes to sport and activity. Who says? is a campaign launched by activity alliance back in the summer of 2019 that aims to challenge these often held misconceptions of what disabled people can or cannot do in sport.

Phase one of this campaign was aimed at telling positive stories, giving resources and guidance, to help change the negative view. Phase 2, launched 7th March 2022, is making an attempt to change the views and attitudes on disabled children and young people, and their place in sport and activity.

They’ve created four campaign films that seek to delve into four negative perceptions held by people that will influence a disabled child’s chance to be active. These films show both disabled and non-disabled children and adults challenge these views.

The four perceptions they speak up against are ‘Young disabled people should sit out of PE lessons’, ‘Disabled people can’t be leaders’, ‘Disabled children can’t grow up to be active adults’, and ‘Families can’t be active together’.

You can support the campaign by using social media to spread the word or to share your own experiences using the hashtag #WhoSays.

We share the belief that those with disabilities can do so much more than what many believe, and that there is a place for anyone to be included. Especially at Defiant Sports!

As always, stay Defiant!
