Introducing Table Cricket!

We have exciting news from our coaches this week: they have introduced Table Cricket to our Hub!

Table cricket is a great adapted sport and is suitable for all individuals with a disability. It is played on a table tennis table, has 5 scoring zones, a wooden bat to hit the ball and a ramp to deliver the ball. This is an excellent sport that develops teamwork among players who work in teams of 6. Table cricket can be played sitting down or standing up, which makes it a great addition to our Hub. Table cricket is played in schools across the country, and there is a National Final every year through the work of Lord’s Taverners. This sport was originally created for children with severe physical disabilities, so it is inclusive for everyone. If you would like more information, please visit the links at the bottom of this blog post or contact us at info@defiantsports.org.uk!

We want to give thanks to Sport England who have graciously provided us with our own table cricket kit which will be used in sessions as soon as it is safe to do so. #TeamDefiant are always looking and researching for new activities to add to our Hub, but without the support from Sport England, much of what we do would not be possible.

Our #TeamDefiant coaches also had their first training session for table cricket last week! Although there is still lots to learn about it, they are excited to teach it to our players in the Hub very soon. Come on down to join us and learn a new inclusive sport!

As always, stay defiant!
